Demonstrating and Promoting Best Techniques and Practices for Managing Healthcare Waste and PCBs

Project Summary

The development objective of Managing Healthcare Waste and Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) Project is to reduce releases of dioxins, furans and Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) in Tunisia by strengthening the Recipient’s legal and institutional framework and establishing sound and sustainable management programs for improving management and final disposal of healthcare waste (HCW) and PCBs. This restructuring requires change with respect to the reallocation of funds between the three disbursements categories to address: (i) the increase in the cost for the acquisition of local and centralized storage facilities; (ii) equipment for collection and in-situ transportation of HCW; and (iii) freezers for storage of placentas in the maternity services covered by the project.
